KilledByAI started as a personal project — a dark, terminal-styled "graveyard" I built to scratch my own itch. Two years went into researching the metrics and building it before the site went live five months ago. With 390,000+ tracked displacements now on the record, it had outgrown that origin. So it's been rebuilt.
Why change it
The original look was a personal aesthetic: neon, scanlines, tombstones. Fun to build — but it was designed for an audience of one. As more people arrived — analysts, journalists, and workers checking whether their role is next — the theatrics got in the way of the data. A record this serious deserves an interface that gets out of the way.
The honest version: the first design was a personal thing. It was never going to suit most of the people who actually visit.
What's new
- One professional design system across every page — editorial typography, a calm palette, and light/dark themes that follow your device.
- Charts that finally read in both themes, with the neon retired in favor of clarity.
- A front-page number: 390,622+ humans displaced by AI, and counting — the most important figure we track, now the first thing you see.
- Cleaner language. The "graveyard" framing is gone. This is a record — sourced, dated, and kept.
Same mission
The look changed. The job didn't: document, precisely, what AI is retiring — products, services, and jobs — and keep the receipts. Now it's easier to read, easier to share, and built for everyone who needs it — not just the person who started it.
